IECEX CERTIFICATION OF PERSONNEL COMPETENCE

This is IECEx's certification system for people to prove their ability and experience to work with Ex explosion protection equipment that meets international standards.

The IECEx Certified Persons Scheme provides the global Ex industries with a single system for the assessment and qualification of persons meeting the competency prerequisites needed to properly implement the safety requirements based on the suite of IEC International Standards covering explosive atmospheres, e.g. the IEC 60079 and IEC 61241 series of standards.

Bureau Veritas Italia together with Australian partner, and Certifying Body Competency Training can assess in Italy the following Ex Units of competency:

Ex 001: Apply basic principles of protection in explosive atmospheres
Ex 003: Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems
Ex 004: Maintain equipment in explosive atmospheres
Ex 006: Test electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres
Ex 007: Perform visual & close inspection of electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres
Ex 008: Perform detailed inspection of electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres

TARGET AUDIENCE: 
The IECEx CoPC (Certificate of Personnel Competence) pathway provides professionals working in Ex environments with the opportunity to obtain an international certification that validates globally recognized technical competencies. Access to the certification involves both theoretical and practical assessment activities based on the IEC 60079 standards, with the objective of confirming the candidate’s ability to operate safely in explosive atmospheres.

The process is designed for personnel already active in the sector who wish to formalize their competencies through an official IECEx examination. It is therefore a certification pathway that enhances and recognizes the professional experience already acquired.

Entry Requirements
To ensure an effective certification experience, candidates are recommended to have:
•    Operational experience in Ex environments: familiarity with installation, maintenance, inspection, or management of Ex equipment.
•    Knowledge of IEC 60079 standards: understanding of key technical requirements and protection concepts.
•    Practical competence: ability to perform the tasks associated with the selected units of competence.
•    English language: the IECEx examination is conducted entirely in English. Candidates must be able to understand technical questions, documentation, and procedures.

CERTIFICATION: At the end of the training path and after passing the theoretical and practical exam, the IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence is released. This IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence is issued by an approved IECEx Certification Body, Competency Training, whose identifier is “ACT”. 

If you fail the exam (failure), you will have to resit it. Resit the exam will incur an additional cost. Please note that only the exam needs to be repeated, not the entire course.

DURATION:
The path consists of 5 days (40 hours):
- 3 days of THEORETICAL COURSE
- 2 days of PRACTICAL AND THEORETICAL EXAMS

THEORETICAL COURSE, unless explicitly mentioned, is in Italian.
TRAINING MATERIAL and THEORETICAL EXAMINATION MATERIALS are provided in English.

■ Registration fee:
Single participation: € 2.500 + VAT
■ In the event that the company registers more people, the rate is discounted by:
10% for the registration of at least 2 participants
15% for the registration from 3 to 6 participants
20% for the registration from 7 to 8 participants
■ The participation fee includes teaching training material
■ The course is subject to confirmation and Bureau Veritas Italia reserves the right to cancel the course if the minimum number of participants is not reached; A maximum of 10 participants are admitted to a single edition
